Each part cycle takes 1.5 hours. In between, I’m deburring the parts with hand tools and cratex. The part I’m working on is called an olecrannon plate. If any of you shatter an arm, this thing goes inside you to hold all the bits together.

Kinja'd!!!

I’ll always prefer a job where I make stuff that puts people back together, as opposed to working for one whose products have a chance of violent unscheduled disassembly.

Huh, cool.

I'm not working, but I can't sleep since I woke up at one today after working until 7 am.

Still at work as well, I get off around 5:20AM CST. I don’t make anything cool sadly, just schedules and bad jokes.

In my job, I work both sides;  it balances out, I guess.

Tried to catch a few zs this evening as I had a 15 hour day yesterday. Got woken up as I went to sleep twice for both things I didn’t need to be woken up for. Then I couldn’t sleep. Now laying in bed exhausted and still unable to fall asleep. Nothing is working and I need to be up at 6.

The situation is slowly making me furious.

Oh nevermind... One of the releases went and broke on a database change and I have to coach the (admittedly smart  and adept) new guy. Guess I'll just never sleep again

5:38 AM here in Michigan. I woke up earlier than I wanted. I don’t have anything to do but can’t fall back asleep.

Indeed, one of the softer titanium alloys. You don’t want to know what stainless and the harder Ti does to our facemills.

I know what stainless does. Fuck stainless. We have never worked with Ti.

I see. There are actually several manufacturers of these products under different companies. For example, Company X designs and sells product A, and partners with Company Y to produce the parts.

So even if you knew the name of Company A that sold your plate, you wouldn't know who made them. :V

TI is...kinda like softer steel if you get the ones of correct hardness. As a machinist, I'm of the mind that anyone with real goals in metalworking should study up on the harder alloys since having the capability will be valuable.

Im remote so any doofing is essentially limited to the home office. Still, I slept today. So that's something
